Plot twist: Hiccup leaves with Toothless to the hidden world.

That would honestly be my personal view of a perfect ending.
It’s canon that Hiccup and Toothless are soulmates, halves of the same whole. Or if you prefer, two wholes of one even bigger whole. After everything that’s happened, after all they’ve been through together, after all they’ve learned and taught, after all they’ve changed… It would just be a shame to watch these two part ways forever.
And not just because of the strong bond they share. This separation would be a bummer for every single character in this franchise.
My complains are basically this:
- Berk has only had dragons for six years. From what I can understand from the books, the Hooligans have been living with dragons for several generations until they had completely forgotten that a dragon was never meant to be a slave. Parting ways then was absolutely necessary. They had their chance and they blew it. (I know that’s not the whole story) But the Berk in the movie franchise? They have only been living with dragons for six years. That just seems way too short to me. It’s like us suddenly deciding to give up all of our dogs/cats other beloved animals. They are family. You can’t just up and leave them. And we’ve been living with them for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
- Berk’s entire way of life depends on the dragons. Sure they can go back to how they once did it, but it would take time and resources. Berk might go through a very dark period following their separation because, well, BERK BURNS DOWN IN THE MOVIE. They won’t have it easy. Hiccup’s role as Chief will most definitely be put to the test.
- The Hidden World has several different kinds of climates. I’m sure there is at least one in which the humans can thrive aswell.
